What Got Me Started

I loved art since I was a little kid, doing everything from painting, to drawing, to pastels, to sculptures, to creative writing and now photography. I started taking a photography class when I was 15, learned all the basics using the school cameras and computers, but I was wanting to do more then just the school assignments, so I begged my mom to get me a camera for Christmas. Soon enough 2 years later she got me one, it wasn't the best most expensive out there, but I wasn't the best photographer out there either. I have taken this camera through a lot of journeys, including my month long road trip with my grandparents going to the Oregon Eclipse Festival in 2017. Now that was a long drive just to go to Oregon when I could have just gotten a plane ticket and save some money on gas, but it was well worth it. I got to see the beautiful Grand Canyon in Arizona, the Sequoia Forest and Lassen Volcanic Park in California, and plenty of festival pictures! Of course we had to rush on the way back home, so I didn't get to stop at as many places as I wanted, but I got the most I could out of one month. I come back home to see my pictures and my heart dropped. All of my pictures were blurry or too bright and the worst part, they all had black specs from lint that was inside my camera on my mirror. When I was travelling I couldn't tell how dirty it was on the inside from switching the lenses around through a lot of whether changes. I was so tired of editing the thousand of pictures so I decided to quit on my photography. I got discouraged because I didn't want to simply spend some time on editing pictures. My camera sat in my room for a whole year, not touching it at all.

In 2019 I decided I wanted to use it again, no editing pictures just took out the SD and put in a new SD card and went to take pictures. I wanted to start over with a new type of photography. So I called my friend and took some pictures of her, she isn't a model, she had awkward poses, I'm new to portrait photography so I had no idea on how to pose her, but I took them anyway. I look at my pictures now and love the awkwardness, not fake poses. I called another friend, same with her, she doesn't like the camera too much. I still use their pictures for my portfolio, now I still love landscape photography, but having a subject I can talk to is so much more fun. Later in 2019 I called someone I knew who is a wedding photographer and now he is my mentor. He has been taking me to weddings, at least the most he can, and it has been a totally new experience. Having a mentor has done a lot for me and that's why I haven't quit on my photography, I'm even editing pictures every day. I want to keep up with my photography by building up my clientele everyday. 2020 is a new year and is going to be the beginning of my photography career and I want to have you in my new portfolio. I believe a fresh photographer has the best pictures, because they are different from the routine most photographers build with their clients.
